How to Enjoy the Wenatchee Valley Like a Local

There’s no better way to get to know a place than to experience it like a local. As an outdoor recreation mecca, Wenatchee keeps its residents busy year-round, from snowshoeing at Mission Ridge to experimenting with what’s new on tap at the local breweries.

Much like Pike Place Market many years ago, Wenatchee’s Pybus Public Market is much more thana tourist stop – it’s also a favored gathering place amongst locals. Nearly 20 merchantsoperate in the space, including food markets, flower shops and an assortment oftasty restaurants. Pybus is also home to WenatcheeValley Farmer’s Market – a local favorite that runs from May throughDecember.

Take in the landscape.

Famous for its rugged peaks, blooming wildflowers and summit views, hiking Saddlerock Trail is a popular pastime for both visitors and locals alike. Though open year-round, this moderate trek is best hiked between late spring and early fall. If you’re looking for a change of scenery, Clara Lake, Sage Hills and Ancient Lakes are all recommended alternatives.

In addition to the Art on the Avenues that you’ll find on Apple Capital Loop Trail, Wenatchee is also home to various galleries and studios, with works ranging from fine art to pop-surrealism. The First Fridays Art Walk is also a great way to check out the local art scene and get to know the city.

Hit the slopes.

There are few resorts where you can wake up and be on the mountain in only a half hour, which is exactly what makes Mission Ridge so special. A haven for both boarders and skiers, this local hotspot is ideal for those who want to spend more time shredding powder than waiting in lift lines. Mission Ridge also hosts a number of fun events throughout the season, so be sure to mark your calendar.
