Wenatchee is a hidden gem for outdoor lovers year-round, but winter brings a special kind of magic to the Wenatchee Valley. From downhill skiing to quiet snow-covered trails, the valley offers endless ways to get outside and soak up the season. Here are our favorite ways to embrace the snowy months in Wenatchee.

No winter visit to Wenatchee is complete without time at Mission Ridge Ski & Board Resort. Perched above the valley on the eastern slopes of the Cascades, Mission Ridge is known for its dry snowfall, expansive views, and terrain for all skill levels. With over 2,000 skiable acres, it’s a favorite for downhill skiers and snowboarders looking for everything from mellow groomers to challenging terrain, all just a short drive from town.

For those who love exploring on foot, snowshoeing is one of the most peaceful ways to experience winter in the valley. Popular local routes include the Clara Lake Trail, as well as several foothill favorites closer to town like Saddle Rock, Jacobson Preserve, and Castle Rock. These trails offer quick access to winter views of the valley and Columbia River and are ideal for scenic snowshoe hikes or winter walks when conditions allow. If you don’t have your own gear, snowshoes can be rented from Arlberg Sports in town.

Cross-country skiing has grown in popularity in recent years, with more groomed and beginner-friendly terrain available nearby. Nordic skiers can head toward Plain Valley or the Chiwawa Sno-Park, where miles of trails wind along rivers and through forests near Lake Wenatchee. Closer to town, Squilchuck State Park remains a favorite for Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and easy access winter recreation just 20 minutes from downtown Wenatchee.

Squilchuck is also one of the best places in the area to try fat tire snow biking, with groomed roads and snowy trails leading toward the Stemilt Basin and expansive winter views. The park also features open areas for sledding and family snow play, making it a great destination for all ages.

Whether you’re looking for new ways to explore the valley in the winter or you’re a longtime lover of outdoor recreation, Wenatchee offers an inviting mix of easy access, diverse terrain, and unforgettable winter scenery. Bundle up, try something new, and experience winter in the Wenatchee Valley. Start planning your winter getaway at VisitWenatchee.org.
