Record number turn out for Thanksgiving Day event Our Turkey on the Run 12K, 5K and Kids Race on Thanksgiving Day was a smashing fun time! We attracted 1,064 registrants and helped raise money and food for the Women's Resource Center in the process. A year ago, we had about 920 entries."It was a huge success for us," wrote Tanya Bradford, who oversees the Women's Resource Center food bank. "Your group collected a little over three-fourths of a ton of food. ... There was more box (dry) food this year, so less weight, but a greater amount. The food will last two to three weeks as December is a huge food month. Every bit is so helpful to our community. Fantastic!"In addition to the nearly ton of food, several thousand dollars were raised through entry fees for the Women's Resource Center, said Joel Rhyner of RunWenatchee. To have such a turnout for a community of this size is amazing," Rhyner said. For a look back at the event, here is a story, here are the race results, and here are three photo galleries from our Facebook - Gallery No. 1, Gallery No. 2 and Gallery No. 3. The last gallery is the work of volunteer Matt Tangeman. Thanks again, Matt!As always, feel free to download a photo from one of our galleries for your own personal use.
