It’s time to clean out your closets! Junior Service League of Wenatchee (JSLW) is now taking donations for their premier event “My Girlfriend’s Closet” coming March 20 – 23 located at 315 Colorado Place in East Wenatchee behind the Wenatchee Valley Mall off of 3rd St. near the corner of Eastmont Ave. JSLW is collecting quality new and gently used women’s clothing items, shoes, purses, and accessories, to then price and merchandise to sell. The sale opens with a preview party on Thursday, March 20th, (tickets available for purchase in February), and then open to the public Friday, March 21st through Sunday, March 23rd. JSLW grossed over $29,500 over the course of this 3 day event in 2013. The last 2 hours of the event JSLW close “My Girlfriend’s Closet” to the public and invites women and teens from the shelters and transitional housing centers to shop in their store for free. JSLW members act as personal shoppers to these women, helping them to choose outfits that will assist them in job interviews, for work, or for school. JSLW was able to help over 75 women last year during this portion of their event. A portion of last year’s proceeds was donated to local non-profits that help homeless women & children.
