Arlberg Sports was born in 1958, when a recently betrothed Ken and Kay Paton had the idea to combine business and their love of skiing. They sold their 1953 MGA sports car to raise enough money to open the little ski shop, named “The Arlberg Ski Shop” after the first method of skiing called “The Arlberg Ski Technique”. In the beginning, The Arlberg Ski Shop was a wooden single A-frame building operating only in the winter months but by 1961 they’d outgrown the little A-frame shop. They turned to friends and family for help and literally had a “barn-raising” event, and the single A-frame grew to a triple A-frame structure. As the business grew, so did its reputation. They started to develop a reputation as one of the best boot-fitting stores on the West Coast.Today the once “little ski shop” is now Arlberg Sports, Inc., is run by Scott and Nalini Paton and it fills up a 18,000 square foot space in the Central Building in beautiful, historic downtown Wenatchee. They cater to second and even third generation of skiers, snowboarders, hikers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts of all persuasions.Visit them in downtown Wenatchee for a superior locally-owned, outdoor store experience and follow them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Arlberg-Sports/106694839375202 and on Instagram at @arlbergsports.
